Joining the National Chapter of Nu Rho Psi is completely optional. You are more than welcome to be involved in the UVA Chapter without applying to the National Chapter. 

 

Applications to join the National Chapter are accepted at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters. The following are requirements listed by the national branch of Nu Rho Psi for membership:

• Major, minor, other emphasis in Neuroscience

• Completion of at least 3 semesters of the College course

• Completion of at least 9 semester hours of Neuroscience-related courses

• Undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.2 and a minimum GPA of 3.5 in Neuroscience courses

UVA Chapter Membership Status and Point System

Nu Rho Psi at UVA uses a point system to track active membership. You need a minimum of 5 points each semester to be considered an active member and therefore be eligible to run for executive board.

Examples of how to earn points include:​​

• General-Body Meeting: 1 point

• Guest Speaker: 2 points

• Dinner Series/Journal Club: 2 points

• Social/Volunteering Events: 1 point

• Nu Rho Psi Field Trip (Spring 2025): 3 points
